MHRD releases NCERT alternative academic calendar for class 11, 12

For different types of students, links for audiobooks, radio programs, video programs, etc. will also be included in the course. The objective is to ensure that students across the country have quality and standardized materials even during lockdown.


HRD Minister launches alternative academic calendar

The Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD), Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, today released an alternative academic calendar for 11th and 12th grades. The calendar is developed by NCERT. “This calendar directs teachers on the use of various technological tools/social media tools to educate students while they are at home,” the minister wrote on Twitter while launching the alternative academic calendar.

For differently-abled students, link for audiobooks, radio programmes, video programme etc will also be included in the curriculum. “This will empower our students, teachers, school principals, and parents to find out positive ways to deal with Covid-19 using on-line teaching-learning resources and help in the attainment of learning outcomes,” the minister added.

Alternate Academic Calendar - Education Update News


NCERT had earlier published the calendar for the rest of the classes. All the subjects will be released in the calendar through week-wise plans. This calendar would be disseminated through DTH Channels and also conducting video conferencing with SCERTs, Directorates of Education, SCERTs, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, CBSE, State School Education Boards, etc.

The objective is to ensure that students across the country have quality and standardized materials even during lockdown. The Schools and colleges across the country have been closed since mid-March. No decision has been taken on the reopening of schools soon. The Minister of Human Resource Development had earlier reported that NCERT is preparing to reopen the schools.

“This calendar will cater to the needs of all children, including Divyang children (Children with Special Needs)- link for Audiobooks, Radio programmes, Video programmes etc will be included,” he said.

Speaking more about the academic calendar, Ramesh Pokhriyal said, “This will empower our students, teachers, school principals, and parents to find out positive ways to deal with Covid-19 using on-line teaching-learning resources and help in the attainment of learning outcomes.”
The main objective of this venture is to ensure that every student in the country has access to educational materials to enrich their skills and improve their academic performance during the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown.
